The 24-month initiative, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, brings together a consortium of five partners: AF Porto (Portugal, coordinator), CEIPES ETS (Italy), INEFC (Spain), CSI Center for Social Innovation (Cyprus), and Sport Coaching Europe (Malta). Together, they are working to dismantle gender-based barriers and address discrimination, with a focus on young people aged 18-30 and the coaches who guide them.
The STRANGE project (Sport Against Stereotypes for Promotion of Gender Equality) entered the final half-year period of collaborative action across five European countries. Launched with the goal of combating gender inequality in grassroots sports, the project has moved from planning to implementation, achieving significant milestones in its mission to foster a more inclusive sporting environment for all. With the experience of the first year and the successful launch of the Training manual on gender mainstreaming in sports, project partners developed the STRANGE sport curricula that is now ready to be implemented across the consortium countries, with sport coaches and athletes ready to interact with its activities. As we are approaching the last few months of the project, the activities of STRANGE will reach a climax with the upcoming STRANGE Final Tournaments implemented across the partnership.
The main focus of the current partner meeting in Malta on 9-10 July 2026 was on implementation of activities covered by WP4 – Training in sport activities & Final tournament and WP5 – Dissemination, Sustainability and Exploitation. All partners presented their readiness to bring this important project to its successful finish.
