MCAST is Malta’s leading vocational and higher education institution, preparing learners for careers across community-oriented and service-based sectors. Through its Institute of Community Services, MCAST supports the development of professionally competent practitioners through a blend of theoretical knowledge, applied learning, and real-world experience.
About MCAST
The Institute of Community Services is one of the institutes within MCAST, delivering programmes across a wide range of disciplines, including sport, social care, social work, early years education, inclusive education, security and enforcement, beauty, and hairdressing.
Programmes are offered across multiple Malta Qualifications Framework levels, from introductory to degree and postgraduate study, creating accessible progression pathways for different learner profiles. A key strength of the institute is its emphasis on practical training and industry exposure, with placements and hands-on learning forming an important part of many courses.
Alignment with ICCE
MCAST’s values closely align with ICCE’s mission to lead and develop sport coaching globally. Both organisations share a commitment to learner-centred development, lifelong learning, professional standards, and applied, practice-based education.
MCAST’s focus on quality assurance, ethical and competent practice, social responsibility, inclusion, and community impact reflects ICCE’s belief that high-quality coaching and education can support positive change in sport and society. Through its emphasis on international collaboration and knowledge exchange, MCAST is also well positioned to contribute to the continued professionalisation of coaching at both European and global levels.
ICCE Membership Impact
“Membership with the International Council for Coaching Excellence has strengthened our international positioning and credibility, aligning local provision with globally recognised coaching standards. It has also enabled access to international networks and expertise, facilitating collaboration, staff development, and knowledge exchange.”
