The International Coaching Degree Standards (ICDS) were created in response to the need to support higher education institutions (HEIs) delivering sport coaching degrees. In recent years, ICCE has developed a successful sport coaching degree endorsement process.
ICCE is happy to announce that Lithuanian Sports University (LSU) is the latest university to achieve full endorsement for its Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Coaching.
Kristina Bradauskiene, Director of the Sport Coaching degree at said: “The endorsement process was a great experience for the members of the Department of Coaching Science to work towards a common goal – to revise the study program and its impact on students as future sport coaches. The ICCE expert reviewers provided valuable comments and suggestions for further develop our programme in the future.”
Professor Bradauskiene added: “The ICCE’s endorsement means that our degree program meets international coaching requirements and standards, ensuring that coaches and athletes who choose it receive a high-level, consistent, and professional learning experience. Additionally, it serves as a mark of quality, proving that the program emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for today’s coaches.”
For the endorsement process ICCE invites two international reviewers. They carefully familiarize themselves with the material provided by the applicant, ask supplementary questions, and prepare for the endorsement meeting. Following the meeting, the reviewers write a feedback report for the university and a decision is made on the level of endorsement awarded. The whole process is meant to be developmental in nature.
Special thanks go to the international reviewers; Andrea Woodburn Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Education at Université Laval and Louis Moustakas, Professor (FH), Sports Management and Sports Sociology, FH Kufstein Tirol – University of Applied Sciences.
Andrea and Louis summed up their experience of the process: “What stood out in the review process was the positive impact the Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Coaching at Lithuanian Sports University is having on coaching in Lithuania, and its strong alignment with the ICCE Bachelor’s Degrees Standards. During their studies, students benefit from the programme’s extensive collaboration with sports federations, opportunities for experiential learning, involvement with faculty in conducting research in the field, and state-of-the-art equipment and facilities.” Please find more information on the ICCE website: International Coaching Degree Standards | ICCE
