ICCE Member Spotlight: Professional Ski Instructors of Europe

The Professional Ski Instructors of Europe (PSIE) is bringing a fresh perspective to the education and certification of ski instructors across the European snow sports industry and beyond. Established in 2024, PSIE provides training, education and certification designed to support instructors in creating fun, safe and effective learning experiences.

About Professional Ski Instructors of Europe

PSIE offers a comprehensive system of courses tailored to the needs of the snow sports industry and instructor community across Europe.

Its programmes are evidence-based and designed to help instructors work holistically with their students. Through this approach, PSIE supports instructors in developing the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to create positive snow sports experiences for recreational and competitive participants alike.

Alignment with ICCE

PSIE’s values of fun, curiosity, kindness, respect and achievement align closely with ICCE’s mission to lead and develop sport coaching globally.

Like ICCE, PSIE is committed to enhancing the quality of coaching and instruction at every level of sport. Its focus on safe, enjoyable and learner-centred experiences reflects ICCE’s belief that high-quality coaching can help participants grow, develop and pursue their goals within sport.

ICCE Membership Impact

“We very much value our membership of the ICCE and having the opportunity to collaborate and learn from the membership community. We also value having access to resources such as the International Sport Coaching Framework and the International Sport Coaching Journal.”

Derek Tate, President, Professional Ski Instructors of Europe

Through ICCE membership, PSIE has been able to connect with a wider international coaching community while drawing on resources and shared knowledge that support the continued development of its education and certification pathways.

Featured Initiative

One of PSIE’s new programmes for the 2026/27 season is the Mental Skills Snowsports Coach pathway, which addresses an important gap in snow sports instructor education and certification.

Traditional snow sports instructor education often includes limited formal training in mental skills, despite the important role psychology plays in learning, performance and participant experience. This new pathway focuses on areas such as the psychology of learning and skill acquisition in an open mountain environment, managing emotions, and attentional focus.

By giving instructors and coaches additional tools to better support the psychological needs of learners, the pathway aims to help snow sports professionals work more holistically and improve the experience of those they coach or instruct.
