The Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) educates and certifies coaches, celebrates coaching achievements and supports the continued development of coaching at every level of sport. Through coach education, research and advocacy, the CAC brings together partners and stakeholders to strengthen the skills, recognition and impact of coaches in Canada and internationally.
About Coaching Association of Canada
The CAC works to improve coaching through education, certification, research, advocacy and collaboration. Central to this work is the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP), which supports the development of coaches across a wide range of sports and coaching environments.
The organisation is guided by values centred on understanding, inclusion, curiosity, courage and gratitude. These values support the CAC’s commitment to developing sustainable coaching systems and creating positive sport experiences for coaches, athletes and participants.
The CAC also promotes the professionalisation of coaching through strong standards of practice and an emphasis on ethical and responsible coaching.
Alignment with ICCE
The CAC’s work closely aligns with ICCE’s mission to lead and develop sport coaching globally. Both organisations are not-for-profit and share a commitment to strengthening coaching systems, supporting coach development and improving sport experiences.
The CAC’s values around inclusion, curiosity, courage and service also connect closely with ICCE’s commitment to diversity, sustainability, fair play, transparency, teamwork and innovation.
Both organisations recognise the importance of ethical coaching practice and the role coaches play in creating safe, inclusive and high-quality environments for athletes and participants.
ICCE Membership Impact
“The CAC’s link with other ICCE members facilitates global networking and the sharing of best practices that continually challenge all to be better.”
— Wayne Parro, Director, International Programs, Coaching Association of Canada
Through ICCE membership, the CAC benefits from opportunities to connect with coaching organisations and experts around the world, exchange knowledge and learn from different approaches to coach education and development.
The open sharing of Safe Sport information across the ICCE network has also helped inform the CAC’s domestic and international work, supporting its continued commitment to safe and ethical coaching environments.
Featured Initiative
The CAC is currently expanding its international work by connecting with countries that do not yet have sustainable and scalable coaching programmes.
Through these partnerships, the CAC aims to help countries strengthen connections between sport, education and health care systems while building coaching structures that can support long-term participation and athlete development.
The goal is to promote sport and its wider values while helping create strong development opportunities for athletes from playground to podium. Through international programmes, coach education, mentorship, Safe Sport resources and mental health initiatives, the CAC continues to share its experience and support the development of coaching systems around the world.
