Professor John Lyle and Senior Research Fellow Sergio Lara-Bercial delivered a two-hour seminar as part of the Chinese Olympic Committee’s ‘Top Hundred Outstanding Young Professional and Technical Personnel Training Programme’ run in conjunction with the University of Leeds. The programme aims to provide early career coaches and technical personnel with enrichment experiences which will help them advance their careers.

John and Sergio offered an overview of the coaching programmes, research and enterprise activities at Leeds Beckett with special emphasis on the partnership with ICCE. They then went on to explore the nature of the coaching process and in particular coaching expertise and decision making. This allowed for the young Chinese coaches to explore their own careers and coaching practices and reflect on areas for development.
