A successful 2nd Annual Award for the Best Sports Coaches and Sports Personalities was hosted by the Hellenic Federation of Sports Coaches and Trainers (POPA), the only award event exclusively for Coaches in Greece.

The award ceremony took place on Wednesday March 13, 2024, in the welcoming municipality of Helioupolis. Distinguished Coaches with top international successes from various sports, Coaches selected by the Associations of Coaches members of POPA and Greek and Cypriot sports personalities were awarded.

The event began with President of POPA Mr. Athanasios D. Villiotis giving an update on activities of the Federation of Coaches in the previous year, with particular emphasis on the assignment by the International Council for Coaching Excellence (ICCE) to POPA of hosting the 15th ICCE Global Coach Conference in Athens 2025.

The following individuals were presented with special awards:

– the Minister of Sports, Mr. Yiannis Vroutsis, for the effort to upgrade Greek Sports and the support of the actions of P.O.P.A.

– the former Deputy Minister of Sports and current Minister of Agricultural Development and Food, Mr. Lefteris Avgenakis, for his contribution to sports and especially to Coaches.

The presence of the Secretary General of the ICCE Dr Ladislav Petrovic, was particularly honourable for POPA. Ladislav and the ICCE were awarded for the promotion and support of coaching as a profession at a global level and support of POPA.
