
Dr Sergio Lara-Bercial is Vice-President of the International Council for Coaching Excellence (ICCE) and Professor of Sport Coaching and Youth Sport at Leeds Beckett University. Through ICCE, he contributes to international coaching policy, professional standards, research and the development of evidence-informed coaching systems.
He is a co-author of the International Sport Coaching Framework and European Sport Coaching Framework, which have influenced coach education and development across multiple countries and sports. He is also co-founder of ICOACHKIDS, a global movement supporting the development of child-centred coaches and youth sport systems.
Sergio’s research focuses on high-performance coaching, youth sport, coach learning and the translation of evidence into policy and practice. He works with organisations including the IOC, FIFA, UEFA, FIBA and Nike on coaching strategies, workforce frameworks and education programmes. Alongside his academic and policy work, he has coached basketball for 30 years, including with Great Britain national teams, winning 19 national titles.
