SheCOACH: Advancing Opportunities for Women in Sport Coaching

The SheCOACH project is working to create more equitable opportunities for women in sports coaching, recognising that gender equality is about more than increasing women’s participation. It also requires ensuring women have access to education, mentoring, networking and leadership opportunities needed to develop and progress throughout their coaching careers.

ICCE Sport Coaching Europe is a partner in this important initiative, contributing to efforts to strengthen coaching pathways, support women coaches and promote greater gender equality and inclusion across sport. Through collaboration and shared learning, the project aims to help create environments where women coaches can develop, progress and thrive.

The SheCOACH project recognises that meaningful and lasting change requires sustained commitment from organisations across the sporting system. Creating supportive environments and stronger pathways can help address barriers that women may face throughout their coaching journeys and provide greater opportunities for career development and leadership.

As the project moves into its next phase, SheCOACH will hold Info Days in Cyprus, Greece, Italy and Spain in September, followed by Policy Workshops in October. These activities will bring together stakeholders from across sport to explore practical approaches to strengthening pathways for women coaches and advancing gender equality.

The project encourages the sporting community to consider what needs to change to create more equitable opportunities for women coaches—and, importantly, how those ideas can be translated into meaningful action.
