The Panhellenic Federation of Sports Coaches and Instructors (P.O.P.A.) held its 4th Annual Coaches Awards Ceremony on 18 March 2026 at the Mikis Theodorakis Municipal Theater of Ilioupoli, recognising the outstanding contribution of coaches across Greece and celebrating their impact on athletes, sport and society.
The event brought together members of the coaching community, sport leaders and distinguished guests for an evening focused on recognition, appreciation and the continued advancement of coaching in Greece. Presented by sports journalist Vicky Spyrou for the third consecutive year, the ceremony highlighted the dedication, effort and human stories behind sporting success.
A key moment in the event was a recorded message from ICCE President Lorraine Lafrenière, who described P.O.P.A. as a strategic ICCE partner and recognised the success of the 15th Global Coach Conference, co-organised by the two organisations in Athens in November 2025. In her remarks, she also referenced the CORE initiative, noted in the press release as a vision of P.O.P.A. President Athanasios D. Villiotis.
At the heart of the ceremony was the recognition of coaches from a wide range of sports, including weightlifting, wrestling, boxing, sailing, swimming, athletics, badminton, table tennis, skiing, judo, taekwondo, rowing, fencing, tennis, cycling and modern pentathlon, as well as coaching categories for deaf athletes and athletes with disabilities.
Special awards were also presented to supporters of the 15th Global Coach Conference Athens 2025, alongside additional recognitions for Ilioupoli Mayor Stathis Psyrropoulos and former P.O.P.A. General Secretary Dimitris Stefanidis for his 15 years of service. The ceremony concluded with a renewed commitment to celebrating coaching excellence as a vital part of Greek sport.
