The ICCE was pleased to contribute to the Third Rowing Coaches Congress in Cacia, Portugal, where Guillermo Calvo, representing ICCE and ICOACHKIDS, shared essential insights on youth-centered coaching with nearly 30 rowing coaches from across the country. This event served as a platform for Portuguese coaches to develop their skills and exchange best practices, underscoring the vital role that coaching excellence plays in enhancing sport at all levels.
As part of ICCE’s mission to elevate coaching standards globally, Guillermo presented the ICOACHKIDS global movement, which provides evidence-based resources that prioritize young athletes’ needs in sport. The presentation highlighted innovative tools and resources, created to support the professional development of youth sport coaches worldwide and contribute to ICCE’s goal of a more inclusive and impactful coaching landscape.
Guillermo also discussed the ICOACHGIRLS project’s recent conclusions on female participation in sport, offering practical strategies to increase inclusivity and engagement for girls in sport settings. Additionally, he shared general best practices for fostering fun, personal growth, and sustained participation in youth sports, emphasizing the importance of empowering children to thrive. Attendees were introduced to ICOACHKIDS’ extensive library of free resources, including online courses (MOOCs) and comprehensive guidelines, all aligned with ICCE’s objective to foster high-quality, accessible coaching worldwide.
By participating in events like Portugal’s Rowing Coaches Congress, ICCE and ICOACHKIDS continue to make strides toward developing sport coaching that champions youth-centered, inclusive approaches, reinforcing the global mission of coaching excellence at every level.
