ICCE Quality in Coaching (QiC) Model
Welcome to the ICCE Quality in Coaching Model – this section of the ICCE website provides you with background information and instructions on how to use this valuable tool.
What is the ICCE Quality in Coaching Model?
It is a diagnostic, developmental and quality assurance tool for coaching organizations, to help them analyze the key components of their coach development system.
Who is it for?
The QiC model has been developed to help ICCE members improve their coaching development system. It will be of value to any sport or coaching organization at the local, national or international level that is delivering coach education and is interested in assessing or enhancing their coaching program. What are the steps to use the QiC Model?
To use the QiC model:
- Determine who from your organization can best answer the self-assessment questions about your coaching program. This is often a small group of experts in your program who can answer the questions together.
- Log-in to the tool at the link below and register your organization.
- Answer the initial questions about the type of organization you are and your priorities;
- Then move on to answer the questions about your coaching development work; and
- Generate a report and work together to develop an action plan.
The time required to complete this process will vary depending on the familiarity you have with your program, and whether you need to solicit additional input to answer the questions, but if you and your group are expert on your program you should be able to complete the process within 60 to 90 minutes.
What do I need to get started?
You may need to collect information to be able to answer questions related to the four key features of the QiC model: leadership of your coaching system, your coaching system strategic plan (if you have one), your existing coaching education and development program, and how you evaluate the impact of your coaching system.
What do I do after completing this process?
The QiC model prompts you to identify goals and an action plan to address issues that are identified in the report. If you need help with the follow-up, the ICCE offers a Consultative Service to work with organizations to put the recommendations into practice. Terms of Use
The ICCE Quality in Coaching Model is copyrighted by the ICCE and cannot be reproduced or used for commercial purposes by non-member organizations. It is available for one-time use on the ICCE website. All users are requested to join the ICCE.
Member organizations using the QiC can request permission to translate the tool, on the condition that the translated tool is co-copyrighted by ICCE and the member organization, and ICCE will have the right to post the translated version on the ICCE website.
ICCE will use data collected from the QiC model over the website for research purposes. ICCE will not reveal any data describing an organization without the permission of the organization, and will only use the data in aggregate form.
