
The US Tennis Association are recruiting a Managing Director.
The Managing Director of USTA-U will lead all aspects of USTA Coaching Education & Development to support the growth and development of tennis by increasing the quantity and improving quality of tennis instructors and professionals throughout the U.S.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Develop overall vision, strategy and implementation for Coaching Education & Development across the U.S.
- Direct and supervise the following departments and initiatives within the USTA:
- Certification / Accreditation
- Professional Development
- Experiential Learning
- Program Development
- ADM & Research
- Professional Tennis Management
- Coaching Fellowships & Internships
- Oversee and guide all Coaching Education and Development programs within and without the scope of the new Certification Program to develop a new and diverse generation of certified tennis instructors and professionals.
- Develop operating practices and processes to maximize synergy, effectiveness and efficiencies within Community Tennis, Player & Coach Development and our working relationships with the Tennis ecosystem that we support (USPTA, PTR, Professional Tennis, Sections, Committees, TIU, ITA).
- Oversee the development and implementation of the ADM & all key research projects for the development of the game.
- Create partnerships with outside coach educators to support the overall growth and development of tennis instructors and professionals.
- Oversee and collaborate with key partners on the development of a national internship program to support the recruitment and development of a diverse certified tennis instructors and professionals.
- Integration and optimization of all the USTA’s Coaching Education and Coach Development initiatives to attract and develop a young and diverse army of new tennis instructors and tennis professionals.
- Enhance at the National level, how USTA-U works with our network and services/supports all tennis providers that may include teachers, parents and volunteers.
- Hire, set performance expectations, train, evaluate and manage all USTA personnel for Coaching Education and Coach Development.
- Manage and develop department budget.
Qualifications/Other:
- An identifiable and credible tennis background
- At least ten years of outstanding management experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Science and /or Education, Masters Degree preferred
- Sports Science background preferred
- Substantial experience in Coaching Education and Coach Development
- Effective communication skills
- Team building skills
- Demonstrated leadership skills
- Initiative and persistence in completing task and responsibilities
- Flexibility and ability to work effectively with volunteers
