The SCORE Project team met on Wednesday 30th September 2015 at the Sport and Recreation Alliance offices in London. The ICCE is a partner of the Project, and was represented by Pauline Harrison.
“Strengthening Coaching with the Objective to Raise Equality” – SCORE is a European project supported by the Erasmus+ Sport Programme and led by the European Non-Governmental Sports Organisation (ENGSO). SCORE brings together 13 partner organisations and promotes gender equality in coaching, and focuses on increasing the number of employed and volunteer female coaches at all levels of sport as well as enhancing knowledge on gender equality in coach education. The SCORE project is a two-year project and will be completed by the end of 2016.
The meeting was convened and facilitated by Heidi Pekkola and Sara Massini from ENGSO and signalled the end of the ‘development phase’ of the Project . The agenda focussed on the 2 key elements of the Project – a Toolkit Awareness Pack and Education for Mentors.
The Toolkit is an awareness pack to increase gender equality in coaching and is aimed at national sports organisations. Sarah Milner and Julie McIntosh (sports coach UK) presented the various aspects of the Toolkit for the group to discuss and provide feedback. The finished product will then be launched in a round of National Training sessions held in the 8 participating countries between November 2015 and August 2016.
The second aspect of the Project – Education for mentors – was discussed. This programme will provide training for 24 mentors representing all the different partners in the Project. Their role will be to cascade best practice in mentoring, in order to provide support for female coaches in their countries and increase gender equality. This training will take place in January and June 2016.
The SCORE project now enters the Implementation phase between November 2015 and August 2016 and will culminate in a final conference in Autumn 2016.
