Royal Belgian Football Association plays host to a successful second partner meeting for iCoachKids

iCoachKids expert researchers, coach developers and practitioners from Leeds Beckett University, the International Council for Coaching Excellence (ICCE), Netherlands Olympic Committee (NOC*NSF), the Hungarian Coaching Association, Sport Ireland, Lithuanian Sports University, Universidad Europea de Madrid and the Royal Belgian Football Association, travelled to Brussels this week for a successful second partner meeting of the project.

Leeds Beckett University and the International Council for Coaching Excellence lead this Erasmus+ funded project – entitled ‘iCoachKids: Innovative Education & Training for a Specialist Children & Youth Coaching Workforce’ – to prioritise and facilitate the education and recognition of children’s coaches across Europe

Leeds Beckett University updated the group on progress surrounding the Workforce Report and interviews that have taken place with each country within the partnership.

iCoachKids Project Manager, Sergio Lara-Bercial, proposed a number of Best Practice example to be included on the website to help share and create communities of practice.

All partners presented their work on literature reviews conducted in their countries so far, which will inform a European Coaching Children Curriculum, tackling the training gap in children’s coaching across Europe.

The group discussed the successful launch of the iCoachKids online platform, and ways in which it can be continually improved to best fit the needs of coaches and users.

The project group plan to meet again in Budapest towards the end of 2017 to further review progress of the project and to host the first iCoachKids conference.
