Project iCoachKids are delighted to announce a new cooperation agreement with the National Youth Sport Institute (NYSI) of Singapore to drive the quality of youth sport experiences in the South-East Asian country.

The NYSI thus becomes the latest project supporter to be added to a growing list of organisations aiding the development and dissemination of youth coach education resources linked to the Erasmus+ project led by Leeds Beckett University (LBU) and the International Council for Coaching Excellence (ICCE).

The NYSI aims to add value and positively impact the Singapore youth sports ecosystem. One of the NYSI’s key objectives is to raise the standards of youth coaching through coach education and provision of coaching resources. iCoachKids and NYSI will work together to ensure that resources provided by both organisations reach as wide an audience as possible both in Europe and Asia.

Head of Youth Coaching for NYSI, Vincent Ong is delighted with the signing of this memorandum of understanding. “This partnership will collectively elevate youth coaching standards and help to create a more positive development experience for youth athletes en route towards their high performance or lifelong participation goal,” said Mr Ong.

“We are glad to partner with iCoachKids to support youth coaches in Singapore,” said Mr Tan Wearn Haw, Director of NYSI. “Youth coaches are developing the next generation of elite athletes for Singapore and NYSI will support them with easily accessible, online educational resources through this partnership.”

The ICCE and Leeds Beckett University’s Sergio Lara-Bercial, project leader for iCoachKids, praised the agreement. “NYSI has very similar objectives to iCoachKids and a real desire and drive to improve the sport experiences of children and young people in Singapore and South-East Asia. We are very excited about this partnership,” said Mr Lara-Bercial.

iCoachKids is led by Leeds Beckett University (LBU) and the International Council for Coaching Excellence (ICCE) and brings together another six world-class organisations with a common desire to support youth coaches and a proven track record of doing so. These include Sport Ireland Coaching, the Hungarian Coaches Association, the Netherlands Olympic Committee, and European University of Madrid, Lithuanian Sport University, and the Royal Belgian Football Association.
