The 2nd cohort of ICCE trained Coach Developer graduates, as Zambia is taking a regional lead in the work of Coach Development and Recognition.

In November, 14 new Coach Developers from Zambia, Zimbabwe and Malawi entered the database of trained Coach Developers from the International Council of Coaching Excellence.

The participants were selected out of a number of applicants from national sport federations, and are being trained to develop coaches in their governing sport bodies. The content is internationally recognized by ICCE and their members, and contains up to date methods and processes based on the latest research and good practices in the field of coach development. 

The training is a 6 months commitment with two in-house weeks at the start and the end. The first week was hosted in Kafue in April focusing on the newest trends in learner-centered coach education and facilitation. This was facilitated by Dr. Larissa Galatti from UNICAMP Brazil, and Pelle Kvalsund, The Norwegian Olympic and Paralympic Committee and Confederation of Sport (NIF) – both qualified Coach Developers by ICCE. The second week’s focus was on the support of coaches in the field, and mentoring. Facilitators were once more Pelle Kvalsund, this time accompanied by Penny Crisfield, Master Coach Developer.

ZamCoach360, is working hand-in-hand with the National Olympic Committee, The National Sports Council and the National Sport Federations, and the Zambian Ministry of Youth, Sport and Child Development to enhance the quality and recognition of coaches in Zambia. NIF has for years been supporting sport in Zambia and Zimbabwe, and was with support of the National Olympic Committee of Zambia once more successful in financing the training with assistance from IOC and Olympic Solidarity.
